VentusIQ Open Weather (weather-commons)
Copyright 2026 Weather Commons contributors

The collector lane, source freshness, and latest-state architecture are adapted
from VentusIQ's src/ingest/lane_runner.py, source_freshness.py, and latest_state.py,
with authorization from the project owner. Changes include JSON payloads,
transactional SQLite storage, alert-specific cadence, retries, health reporting,
and bounded snapshot history. No trading logic, credentials, or private datasets
are included.

The VentusIQ wordmark and cloud icon are copied from the owner's existing
dashboard assets at the owner's request. The UI carries the current VentusIQ
terminal palette and local Geist display typography. Geist, Geist Mono, and
Geist Pixel font files are distributed under SIL Open Font License 1.1;
their licenses are retained in public/assets/fonts/.

Leaflet 1.9.4 is distributed under its BSD 2-Clause license. Its license is retained
at public/vendor/LEAFLET-LICENSE. OpenStreetMap data is separately licensed under
ODbL; visible attribution links to its copyright page. NWS data and external map
services retain their own applicable terms. Apache-2.0 covers this project's
original code, not a relicensing of third-party data or dependencies.

The Sioux Center road-network test fixture in tests/fixtures/route-network/ and
derived route evidence in docs/evidence/route-network-* contain OpenStreetMap data
under ODbL 1.0. Their source attribution and collection metadata are retained.
The optional pyvalhalla runtime is installed separately and retains its own license.

Hosted runtime build tools include the OpenAI Sites Vite integration, copyright
2026 OpenAI, under its retained MIT license in scripts/vite/sites-vite-plugin.LICENSE.
Installed dependencies retain their own licenses; Apache-2.0 applies to original
VentusIQ Open Weather application code, not a relicensing of those dependencies.

Fire incident locations and reported perimeters: NIFC / WFIGS.
PM2.5 monitoring observations: US EPA / AirNow and its reporting agencies.
Daily VIIRS NOAA-20 thermal-anomaly imagery: NASA FIRMS / GIBS.
NOAA-20 VIIRS Collection 2 near-real-time regional heat-detection CSVs: NASA FIRMS.
River observations, forecasts, gauge metadata and impact statements: NOAA NWPS
and the observation agencies identified in its gauge products.
These providers' public data services retain their own terms and attribution;
their observations are not relicensed as original application code.

Historical daily meteorology: NASA Prediction Of Worldwide Energy Resources
(POWER) Project, supported by NASA Earth Science, and MERRA-2 from NASA GMAO.
Source methods, units, grid coverage and attribution are retained in history
responses and exports. No NASA endorsement is implied.

Preliminary tornado, wind and hail reports: NOAA / Storm Prediction Center.

NOAA GEFS ensemble weather data provided by Open-Meteo.com
(https://open-meteo.com/) under CC BY 4.0
(https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). VentusIQ selects grid cells,
samples timestamps and computes empirical member quantiles and threshold counts.
The free API has separate noncommercial service terms; see docs/ensemble.md.

HRRR near-surface smoke: NOAA operational HRRR, distributed in Zarr format by
the University of Utah through its public hrrrzarr AWS archive. Native point
selection and unit conversion are performed by VentusIQ. See docs/hrrr-smoke.md
for data methods, attribution and independent decoding/projection checks.
